"I believe we have a responsibility for the families who stay with us, for the resources we consume and for stewardship of the public trust. In embracing that responsibility, I believe RMHC will establish itself globally as a leader in promoting sustainable design principles."

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in six key areas of human and environmental health, including sustainability, water efficiency and use of recycled materials.

The Ronald McDonald House of Austin made the decision to build to such high environmental standards because in doing so we are creating the best House for our families. The Ronald McDonald House is designed to be an oasis for the families who stay here. After long, restless days in the hospital, guests find a place to recharge and relax in this healthy House.
