Be Our GuestWho can stay?Seriously ill or injured children who are under the age of 19 years who are receiving treatment at an Austin area hospital, and their immediate family may be referred to Ronald McDonald House of Austin and Central Texas. The child must have a permanent address at least 30 miles from Austin. A referral must be made by medical staff at the facility where the child is being treated. All adults staying in the house must have current photo identification. How much does it cost?The Ronald McDonald House of Austin charges a room-fee of $10 per night per family. The first $10 is due upon check-in. This includes lodging, meals, laundry facilities, and other services. If this presents a hardship for a family, arrangements can be made with the Manager on Duty. How to apply?The initial referral must be made by a social worker where the child is being treated in Austin. We cannot guarantee placement until the day of need. Returning families may put their name on our waiting list and call to verify availability the day placement is needed. The Ronald McDonald House reserves the right to verify appointments with the medical service provider. What facilities are available?The Ronald McDonald House of Austin has 30 guest suites. Each suite has a living room, private bathroom and seperate bedroom with a queen-size bed. Meals provided by volunteer community groups are available two times a day in the kitchen, but families may prepare their own meals in the if they have special needs, diets or preferences. Laundry facilities are available for personal items. There are several common areas including a family dining room, living room, activity room, exercise room and media room. |
